|Lanier Greenhaw at the Finish of the Lean Horse Hundred|
So, this morning, I woke up at 4:50 AM to do my scheduled 17 mile run. That's a long run by most any standard. I was very tired at the end, which is normal. The thought of running even three more miles was very unappealing to me. When Lanier Greenhaw only had 17 miles to go, he had already run 83 miles! He did my long run for today more than five times over!
I still don't think that gives this accomplishment proper perspective, but it's the best that I can do. A typical 100 miler will take about 24 hours to finish. Just imagine running for 24 hours straight. Many people struggle to jog for 24 minutes!
Lanier Greenhaw finished the Lean Horse Hundred in Hot Springs, South Dakota, this morning at about 6:46 AM CDT. This is an out and back 100 mile race on a trail mostly parallel with US Highway 385 in South Dakota. Greenhaw's finishing time was 24:46. That's 24 hours and 46 minutes. To the best of my knowledge, Greenhaw is the first Limestone County resident to accomplish this feat. (If you know of someone else, please notify me.)
Stop by Dubs Burgers and congratulate the owner on this amazing accomplishment! Congratulations Lanier!
