Jimmie Dukes 7@7 7k

The first annual Jimmie Dukes 7k run was Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Point Mallard Park in Decatur. 7k is a very unusual distance, 4.36 miles. The course was flat and much of the course was run on the trail that goes along the river. This race had a beat the heat 7 AM start and had a good turnout for an inaugural event.

The overall winner was Limestone County runner Tyrone Harris of Athens in 25:31. It's reported that he hopped out of his car just a couple of minutes before race start time and still dominated the field. The masters winner and second overall was Tim Vinson of Madison in 28:04. The female winner was ultra runner extraordinaire Kathy Youngren of Huntsville in 30:13. The female masters winner was Tina Davis of Town Creek in 34:51.
