The 15k course at Monte Sano is a difficult, technical course with at least 3 major climbs. Unlike many other trail races, the distance on this course is an accurate 15k or 9.3 miles. Anything less than a 10 minute per mile average pace is difficult on this course.
The overall winner was Brandon Mader of Huntsville in dominating fashion with a 1:04:25, over 8 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor. The female overall winner, also with a dominant performance, was Limestone County runner Heather Day of Athens in 1:28:28, over 5 minutes ahead of second place. Congratulations Heather!
