Shining the North Alabama Spotlight

Thanks to Reachdown for commenting about his happy anticipation of our Duck & Run 5K, which is rapidly approaching.
I visited his blog and discovered a fun read about a local guy who is serious about training for his first marathon, Rocket City, in Huntsville in December.

Race Calender is updated!

Saturday, Aug. 30 - Monte Sano 10K & 5K road races. Huntsville.
10K is at 8 a.m.; 5K is at 9:30; one-mile fun run is at 10:30.

Brooke Hill Run for Awareness 5K

Athens' own Tyrone Harris was the overall winner in the Brooke Hill 5K Run for Ovarian Cancer Awareness, which took place Saturday morning in Decatur.
Harris, 28, took the top spot in 16:23.5.

Killen Founder's Day 5K Results

Limestone County had a good showing Saturday during the Killen Founder's Day 5K.

Whitney Hollingsworth, 44, of Elkmont, took the Female Masters title in 22:09.
Bud Bowen, 59, of Elkmont, too the Male GrandMasters title in 20:13.
