Huff 'N Puff 15K postponed

The Huff 'N Puff on the Bluff 15K which was slated for 9 a.m. today in Sheffield has been postponed until June 7. Race organizers made this decision Friday as winter storms rolled into the Tennessee Valley and weather forecasters predicted 1-3 inches of snow accumulation.
Organizers said they agonized over the decision but -- in the face of potentially hazardous driving and trail-running conditions -- they concluded it would be better to postpone in advance rather than leaving Huff 'N Puff registrants wondering about the race's status until the last minute on Saturday morning. The new date for the Huff 'N Puff was determined taking into consideration the area race schedule and the availability of the Sheffield Recreation Center facilities.
Sheffield is two counties southwest of where I sit this morning so I don't know what the snow looks like over there, but here's the scene on my street right now, and the snow is still falling:

To Northerners this may not look like much but here in the South this is a significant snowfall.
I'd say the Huff 'N Puff folks made the right choice and I commend them on thinking ahead with the safety of their runners and volunteers in mind.

Inspiration & Disappointment in London

Wow!

If you're in need of inspiration, check out this article about Buster Martin, a 101-year-old London bloke who recently ran a half-marathon as part of his training program for the upcoming Flora London Marathon.

Again, I must say, Wow!

Also, London Marathon organizers have announced Paula Radcliffe's withdrawal from the April 13 event citing a toe tendon injury the 34-year-old world record holder sustained during training in Albuquerque, N.M.
“I am desperately disappointed that I have to pull out of this year’s race,” Radcliffe is quoted on the official Flora London Marathon website. “I love running in London and this race would have been the perfect test for me before the Olympic Games. But in marathon training there are no short cuts and there is simply not enough time to be in the shape I want to be in to run well in London. Now I must concentrate on being as well prepared as possible for Beijing.”
