America Recycles Day, Nov. 15, is a nationwide event hosted by the National Recycling Coalition and sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency. In its eleventh year, America Recycles Day is designed to inspire Americans to work together to improve recycling as well as to highlight the progress the U.S. has made in recycling in recent years. The Athens-Limestone Recycling Center is sponsoring an Electronics Collection Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the back parking lot of Bank Independent across from the Chamber of Commerce building on Beaty Street. Items accepted include Cathode Ray Tube computer monitors and television sets (a fee of $8 per unit will be charged for CRTs), flat screen TV sets and computer monitors, desktop computers, laptop computers, keyboards and mice, printers, scanners, copy machines, VCRs, stereos, radios, tape players, CD players, cell phones, telephones, fax machines, electronic games, power or network cables, switching boxes, modems, docking stations, CD ROMs, hard drives, printed circuit boards, routers, resistor capacitors, diodes and rechargeable batteries.
